Alameda County DA Pamela Price brought manslaughter charges against three police officers involved in the 2021 death of Mario Gonzalez. RLS attorney Julia Fox is proud to represent Officer James Fisher.
In the incident, the three officers physically restrained Mario on the ground after he resisted attempts to handcuff him. Mario suddenly and unexpectedly died while restrained on the ground.
The officers were originally cleared of wrong doing by the prior District Attorney, who remarked that the officer’s actions were “objectively reasonable”. Current DA Pamela Price reversed her predecessor’s decision and brought manslaughter charges.
Attorney Julia Fox believe DA Pamela Price’s decision is politically motivated as she faces a recall election this year.
Julia Fox commented, “Everyone should see this case for what it is. It is a Hail Mary by Ms. Price to salvage her career. Traditionally, the elected DA is acknowledged as the honorable DA, and I think her actions in this case are anything but.”
Julia Fox is confident the facts presented at trial will dispel the notion of officer misconduct.
“[DA Price’s case] is so riddled by – and crippled by – reasonable doubt that I very much look forward to that reality only being affirmed by a jury, should we get that far,” Julia Fox said.
RLS is proud to support officers who face political prosecution.
