It is with a heavy heart we inform you that Sergeant Damon Gutzwiller of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed while he and other deputies were investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle. Gutzwiller served the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years. We send our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. Rest in peace!
