Founded to represent and defend the defenders

Formed in 1971, the Santa Barbara County Deputy Sheriffs' Association (SBCDSA) represents the more than 440 dedicated and professional members of the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department and District Attorney Investigators. The SBCDSA serves to advance the interests of the professionals represented by the SBCDSA and the community it serves through legislative and legal advocacy, political action, and education.

SBCDSA ORIGINS

Born out of a struggle in the 60's for rights already afforded other workers, the SBCDSA was formed to negotiate for members and enforce protections afforded them under the MMBA and POBR. Many of the rights and benefits taken for granted today came from the courage of others who took action in the face of resistance.
